Can a freelance independent contractor take the certification?

What certifications are available?
Three certifications are available:
- Core Skills (mandatory): fundamental PHP, Symfony, PrestaShop modules.
- Administrator Skills (optional): operations, security, CI/CD.
- Storefront Skills (optional): Front Office, performance, accessibility.

2. Purchase and assignment
How much does the exam cost?
Included: 1 Core Skills pass per year in the subscription. Additional individual purchase: €250/developer/pass for any certification.

What is the deadline to certify my developer after purchase?
Each passage purchased must be used within 12 months of purchase.

Can the included passage be used for any developer from the agency?
Yes, the agency freely chooses which developer will benefit from the included passage.

How long does it take to validate a new developer added to the Expert Portal?
Adding a new member in "Manage my team" may take 24 to 48 hours before they are eligible for an assignment.
How to change the assigned developer (before the start of the examination)?
The assignment can be modified as long as the developer has not started the examination. The change is made directly from the portal.

3. Examination Procedure
Is the exam online?
Yes, it is 100% online.

Can we pause the exam once it has started?
No, the exam lasts a maximum of 90 minutes and must be completed in one go.

How many attempts are included?
Each passage (included or purchased) = 1 unique attempt. In case of failure, a paid retake is necessary.

4. Results and retake.
When are the results communicated?
The results appear immediately at the end of the examination.

Within what timeframe is the badge available after success?
Immediately. The developer receives a confirmation email and finds their badge in their personal safe (PDF + digital badge).

If my developer fails the exam with the included passage, can I retake it for free?
No. Each attempt is unique. The included passage is consumed even in the event of failure. The retake is chargeable (€250).

5. Validity, badges, and agency visibility
What is the validity period of the certification?
Each certification is valid for 24 months from the date of success. After expiration: the developer badge is expired, the PrestaShop Certified Agency badge is revoked if no other certified Core Skills developer is active.

Is the agency badge awarded immediately after a developer's success?
Yes. As soon as a first Core Skills developer is certified, the agency badge is automatically activated and visibility is unlocked in the Expert directory.

What happens if a developer leaves the agency?
The certification is personal and follows the developer. The originating agency loses its PrestaShop Certified Agency badge if no other active certified Core Skills developer remains. If the developer joins another agency with an active subscription, this new agency may benefit from the PrestaShop Certified Agency badge.

Is there a limit to the number of certified developers per agency?
No. On the contrary, the more certified developers you have, the more credibility and scoring points you gain.

What happens if the agency does not renew its annual subscription?
Access to the certification catalog is blocked. Passes can no longer be purchased or used. The agency automatically loses its visibility in the Expert directory.

6. Special Cases
What happens to the old certifications (prior to the new program)?
Certifications obtained under the old model are no longer valid. Only the certifications obtained under the new PrestaShop Expert program (Core Skills, Administrator Skills, Storefront Skills) are recognized and counted towards the scoring.

Can a developer hold multiple certifications?
Yes. The same developer can obtain all three badges (Core Skills, Administrator Skills, Storefront Skills). Each additional certification contributes to the agency's scoring.
