The PrestaShop certification is undergoing significant changes. This overhaul aims to enhance the credibility of the program, align with market standards, and provide real added value to both developers and agencies. It is therefore becoming more rigorous and technical in order to highlight the skills of our Experts.

What is the new certification model?
The program is transitioning from an agency-assigned model to an individually assigned model by developer. Each certification is:
- Personal, nominative, and dated.
- Valid for 24 months
- Structured in 2 levels:
- The Core Skills certification (mandatory, common foundation). This examination aims to assess advanced back-end skills to build and maintain quality PrestaShop projects (V8 & V9).
- TheAdministrator Skills (optional): assesses the administration and configuration skills of PrestaShop.
- The Storefront Skills (optional): assesses the frontend development and PrestaShop theme skills.
The exams are 100% online and available in 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian, and Polish.
Developer recognition.
- Issuance of an individual badge "PrestaShop Expert Certification Core Skills" with the name, first name of the certified individual, year of acquisition, and expiration.
- Badge verifiable by QR code and accessible from a digital vault.
- Easy sharing on your professional networks.
- Validity limited to 24 months (see: Expiration and renewal of the certification).

Recognition on the agency side.
- Awarding of a "PrestaShop certified agency" badge (with the year of attainment mentioned), provided that at least one developer certified in "Core Skills" is active.
- Visibility in the official PrestaShop directory (see: Management of badges and visibility in the expert directory).
- Since January 2026: the agency's scoring increases with the number of certified developers (see: Impact of individual certifications on scoring).
- The agency badge is valid for 12 months, linked to the subscription to the Expert program and conditioned on the existence of at least one certified developer.
The new PrestaShop certification places developers at the center and gives agencies recognition based on their talents. She reinforces the value of the title and the confidence of merchants in the ecosystem.
Practical pathway for an agency.
- Purchase: annual subscription (includes an examination) or individual certification (see: How to purchase a certification?)
- Assignment: the agency selects which developer will take the examination (see: How to assign a certification to a developer?)
- Examination passage: the developer follows the steps of the test.
- Result: success → badge activated (developer + agency), failure → retake necessary.
- Monitoring: the agency can track in real-time the certifications of its developers (see: Track the certifications of my developers).
Important: each annual subscription includes one Core Skills examination per year. This passage must be used within the subscription year. Exams not passed will be forfeited (see: Use your included exam passage)
FAQ
Is the certification valid for life?
No, it is limited to 24 months for developers, and 12 months for agency badges.
What happens if my developer leaves the agency?
The certification remains personal to the developer, but the agency loses its badge if no other certified developer is present.
Can I lose my badge if I do not certify one of my developers?
Yes. Without an active certified developer, the "PrestaShop certified agency" badge is automatically revoked.
Are the Administrator Skills and Storefront Skills certifications available?
Yes. The three certifications - Core Skills, Administrator Skills, and Storefront Skills are available in the Expert Portal catalog.
